## Lithuania

Latest complete month: 2026-06 (provisional: the last few days of the month arrive with the next quarterly release). Register snapshot: 2026-07-01. Data updates quarterly (mid-January, April, July, October).

Headline for June 2026: 18 452 registrations, 4 455 new (24.1%), 13 925 used imports, BEV share 5.4%, average CO2 of new cars 119.8 g/km.

### Definitions
- New: first registration anywhere equals first registration in Lithuania. Used import: first registered abroad earlier (US/Canadian-title imports classified by model year).
- Survivorship: the register extract only holds cars still registered, so months older than the 2026-07-01 release are 10–30% below Regitra's official first-registration counts and year-on-year changes overstate growth. Official monthly totals are published alongside in official.json and on each month page; months from mid-2026 on are frozen from the first snapshot after the month ended.
- MoM / YoY / rank change are omitted when the comparison month has fewer than 30 registrations (10 for electric tables).
- Make and model names are normalised from inconsistent register spellings; BMW is grouped by series, Mercedes-Benz by class.

Monthly new passenger-car registrations by make and model series, with drive types, segments, holder groups and federal states, from Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) tables.

Latest month: 2026-08. KBA tables published: 2026-09-07. The KBA publishes the previous month around the 10th of each month.

Headline for August 2026: 212 563 new registrations (−20.7% vs previous month, +2.6% vs same month last year), 1 965 024 year to date, BEV share 32.4%, PHEV share 12.0%, diesel share 10.6%, private-holder share 40.5%.

### Definitions
- New registrations of passenger cars only, as reported by the KBA: FZ 10 (make and model series with drive types), FZ 11 (segments) and FZ 28 (drive types by holder group, make, segment and federal state). Germany has no per-vehicle open register, so there are no used-import, origin-country or vehicle-age views.
- Make and model-series names are the KBA's own; the KBA sometimes merges series or moves one between segments. Rows reported as "Sonstige" appear as OTHER and are never ranked.

Monthly passenger-car (M1 and M1G) registrations by make and model, split into new cars and used imports, from Transpordiamet open data.

Latest complete month: 2026-08. First-registration file extracted 2026-09-06 (daily file, so months are complete); register snapshot 2026-09-01. Data updates monthly, around the 5th.

Headline for August 2026: 3 276 registrations, 1 486 new (45.4%), 1 790 used imports, BEV share 11.0% (snapshot-based), average CO2 of new cars 113.9 g/km.

### Definitions
- Counts, ranks, new/used split, import age and the private share of new cars come from Transpordiamet's official first-registration file (month × make × model × first-registration year) and are complete.
- Fuel mix, BEV share, CO2 and the electric rankings are measured on the register snapshot frozen for the month (first snapshot dated after the month ended) and can be a few percent low for months before 2026 because cars re-exported or deregistered before the snapshot are missing.
- New: counted as new by Transpordiamet in the official first-registration file (the Estonian registration is the first anywhere); used import: first registered abroad in an earlier year. Import age is year-granular.

Monthly passenger-car (M1) registrations by make and model, split into new cars and used imports, from CSDD (Ceļu satiksmes drošības direkcija) monthly statistics.

Latest complete month: 2026-07. CSDD file extracted 2026-09-13 (one workbook covering January 2000 onward; the site shows the latest 36 months). Data updates monthly, around the 6th.

Headline for July 2026: 6 860 registrations, 2 444 new (35.6%), 4 416 used imports, BEV share 12.8%, plug-in hybrid share 8.6%.

### Definitions
- Counts, ranks, the new/used split, the fuel mix, the private share and import age are all CSDD's official figures; they are complete and are not revised by later exports or deregistrations.
- New: registered as new by CSDD (transit registrations for export are excluded); used import: first registered abroad earlier, including CSDD's "180 days" class (first registered abroad less than 180 days before the Latvian registration), which is also shown on its own.
- Import age: the car's age on the day of the Latvian registration, averaged from CSDD's day-precise sums; brackets under 3, 3–5, 6–10 and over 10 years.
- Fuel: battery electric and plug-in hybrids come from CSDD's fuel column; full hybrids without a plug are recorded as petrol or diesel and cannot be separated. CSDD publishes no CO₂ and no country of previous registration.

## Finland

Monthly passenger-car registrations from Traficom (Liikenne- ja viestintävirasto, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency): new cars by make and model series, used individual imports by make, origin country and age.

Latest complete month: 2026-08. Traficom PxWeb tables extracted 2026-09-06; the site shows the latest 36 months. Data updates monthly, in the first days of the following month.

Headline for August 2026: 10 137 registrations, 6 643 new (65.5%), 3 494 used imports, BEV share 52.7%, new-car BEV share 51.6%, average CO2 of new cars 51.4 g/km.

### Definitions
- Built from four Traficom tables: new registrations of passenger cars by model series, region and fuel; used individual imports by make and fuel; used individual imports by country of import; and Traficom's own average WLTP CO2 of new passenger cars.
- New (ensirekisteröinti): first registration anywhere is the Finnish one, mainland Finland only (Åland has its own register). Used import (käytettynä maahantuotu): first registered abroad and then imported individually.
- Model series exist for new cars only, and they are Traficom's own groupings. Used imports are published by make, origin country and age bracket — never by model. Monthly totals also include motorhomes and makes without a model breakdown, which have no rows.
- Fuel groups: petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, battery electric, gas (LPG/CNG) and other. Traficom records full hybrids without a plug under petrol or diesel, so there is no hybrid group.
- Average CO2 is Traficom's own published WLTP figure for new cars, not recomputed here.
- Age at import = registration year minus the year of first use, in brackets under 3, 3–5, 6–10 and over 10 years. Origin is the country the car was imported from; Traficom's "other EU country", "other EEA country" and "other countries" aggregates are shown as published.

## United Kingdom

Quarterly first registrations of cars from the Department for Transport's vehicle licensing statistics (data file VEH0160, UK): make and DfT generic model, with the fuel mix.

Latest quarter: 2026-Q1. VEH0160 (UK) extracted 2026-09-07; the site shows the latest 12 quarters. DfT publishes about three and a half months after a quarter ends.

Headline for Q1 2026: 631 451 first registrations, BEV share 21.8%, plug-in hybrid 11.7%, hybrid 35.2%.

### Definitions
- First registration: a car registered for the first time in the United Kingdom (Great Britain and Northern Ireland). DfT does not separate brand-new cars from used imports, which are roughly 2.5 % of the total, so there is no new/used split, no import origin and no age.
- Body type Cars only: passenger vehicles up to eight seats. Taxis and light goods vehicles are other body types and are excluded.
- Models are DfT's generic models, with the trim-level rows summed. Rows whose generic model is "MODEL MISSING" (about 1 % of volume) carry no model and are counted in the brand and the totals only.
- Fuel groups: petrol, diesel, hybrid (DfT's "hybrid electric", which includes mild hybrids), plug-in hybrid (plug-in hybrids plus range-extended electric), battery electric, other (fuel cell, gas, other fuel types). No CO2 is published at make or model level.
- Cadence is quarterly: comparisons are quarter on quarter (QoQ) and year on year (YoY); year to date sums the quarters of the calendar year. Percentages are shown when the comparison quarter has at least 30 registrations (10 on the electric tables).
- DfT restates earlier quarters as its make and model coding improves; the newest file is authoritative and the whole window is republished.

## Netherlands

Monthly passenger-car registrations by make and model, split into new cars and used imports, from RDW open data (the Dutch vehicle register).

Latest complete month: 2026-08. Register snapshot: 2026-09-07; the site shows the latest 36 months. Data updates monthly, a few days after the month ends.

Headline for August 2026: 49 636 registrations, 26 307 new (53.0%), 23 329 used imports, BEV share 31.8%, plug-in hybrid 25.4%, full hybrid 20.9%, average CO₂ of new cars 45.7 g/km.

### Definitions
- Passenger cars: RDW voertuigsoort "Personenauto", which is exactly European category M1. Cars that were never put in a keeper's name (about 0.2 % of the register) are excluded.
- New: the car's first admission anywhere (datum eerste toelating) is the same day as its first Dutch registration. Used import: it was admitted abroad earlier. Verified against CBS: 2024 −0.6 %, 2025 +0.3 %.
- Freeze: each month is measured on the first RDW snapshot taken at least three days after the month ended and is never recomputed. Exported cars stay in the register for two years and only scrapped cars vanish, so the 36-month window loses at most 1.4 % against CBS.
- Fuel groups: battery electric (every fuel row Elektriciteit), plug-in hybrid (klasse OVC-HEV), hybrid (NOVC-HEV), petrol, diesel, gas (LPG, CNG, LNG as the first fuel row), other (hydrogen, fuel cells, ethanol, no fuel row).
- CO₂: type-approval WLTP falling back to NEDC, taken from whichever fuel row carries a value; battery-electric cars count as 0 g/km. Plug-in hybrids have no CO₂ value in RDW's fuel dataset (RDW publishes theirs in a separate weighted-WLTP field this pipeline does not read yet) and are excluded from the average, so the published figure is higher than a new-fleet average that included them. Import age: first Dutch registration minus first admission, in years.
- Every month's new-car count is checked against CBS StatLine 85898NED and the published figure is shown alongside as `cbs_new`.

## Spain

Monthly passenger-car registrations by make and model, split into new cars and used imports, from the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) monthly registration microdata.

Latest month: 2026-07. Read on 2026-09-12; the site shows the latest 36 months. The DGT publishes a month about six weeks after it ends, around the 15th of the following month.

Headline for July 2026: 118 217 registrations, 102 735 new (86.9%), 15 482 used imports, BEV share 9.6%, plug-in hybrid 12.7%, hybrid 40.3%, average CO₂ of new cars 99.5 g/km.

### Definitions
- Passenger cars: DGT vehicle type 40 (turismo), on a definitive plate (COD_CLASE_MAT 0 with CLAVE_TRAMITE 1 or B). Temporary plates are excluded; they are counted when they become definitive, so no car is counted twice.
- New and used: the DGT's own IND_NUEVO_USADO flag. The file holds first Spanish plates only, so a used car is an import.
- A month is a flow: the monthly file holds that month's registrations and is final once published. There is no register snapshot and no survivorship correction.
- Fuel groups: from the electric-vehicle category (BEV, PHEV and REEV as plug-in, HEV as hybrid, FCEV as other) and, where it is blank, the propulsion code (0 petrol, 1 diesel, 2 electric, 4/6/7/8 gas), everything else other.
- CO₂: the type-approval CO2_ITV of new cars, with battery-electric cars at 0 g/km. Import age: Spanish registration minus first registration abroad, in years.

Monthly passenger-car registrations by make and model, split into new cars and used imports, from the CEPiK vehicle register (Centralna Ewidencja Pojazdów i Kierowców, Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji) read through api.cepik.gov.pl.

Latest month: 2026-09 (provisional: the month is still being read every day and is final fourteen days after it ends). Read on 2026-09-12, data through 2026-09-11. The site shows up to the latest 36 months and currently has 21; the history grows as older months are backfilled.

Headline for September 2026: 49 705 registrations, 18 586 new (37.4%), 31 119 used imports, BEV share 3.0%, hybrid 21.5%.

### Definitions
- Passenger cars: CEPiK vehicle type SAMOCHÓD OSOBOWY, filtered on the date of first registration in Poland, deregistered vehicles included.

- A month is read every day until fourteen days after it ends, then frozen and never read again. The newest month is provisional until then.
- Fuel groups: battery electric (ENERGIA ELEKTRYCZNA with no combustion fuel as an alternative), hybrid (petrol or diesel with electricity as an alternative fuel, or an electric car with petrol or diesel as one, i.e. a range extender — full and plug-in hybrids together, because CEPiK's hybrid-power field is empty on every row; mild hybrids only when the registrar recorded the electric alternative, which is a minority of them), gas (LPG or CNG as an alternative fuel), petrol, diesel, and other (hydrogen and the rest).
- No CO2: CEPiK records it on about 1.6 % of new cars, too few to publish an average.
- Import age: Polish registration minus the first registration anywhere, in years. MoM / YoY / rank change are omitted when the comparison month has fewer than 30 registrations (10 for the electric tables).

### Definitions
- Built from the CSO's vehicle licensing tables: new private cars by make and model (TEM20, since 2014) and by make, model and fuel (TEM28, since 2024); new (TEM24) and second-hand (TEM25) private cars by make, engine size, emission band and licensing authority; new and second-hand private cars by fuel (TEM27); and vehicles licensed for the first time by taxation class (TEM21) as a cross-check.
- New: a new private car licensed for the first time in Ireland. Used import: a second-hand private car licensed for the first time in Ireland, i.e. previously registered abroad. Total = new + used.
- Models are the CSO's own make-and-model categories (about 330) and exist for new cars only; about 3–4 % of new cars fall into the CSO's "Other" category and appear in no model row. Used imports are published by make only.
- Brand counts come from the CSO's make tables for the makes it lists there; brands it lists at model level only (MG, Polestar, Xpeng, Leapmotor) are summed from their model rows, and the remainder is shown as "Other makes", so brands add up to the total exactly.

### Definitions
- Built from one SDA/CIA workbook per month: new cars by make and by make and model, fuel per model and per make, non-plug hybrids per model, used imports by make and age band, used imports by make and fuel (from 2024), the publisher's CO₂ average and the private/company split of new cars. Every sheet cites the Ministry of Transport's central vehicle register as its source; the ministry's own monthly summary must agree with the workbook's totals to the car.
- New: a new passenger car (the ministry's "OA" class) first registered in Czechia. Used import: a used car imported and first registered in Czechia ("ojetiny"). Total = new + used.

Headline for August 2026: 35 475 first registrations, 9 552 new (26.9%), 25 923 used imports, BEV share 3.3%, hybrid share 23.6%, private holders 30.3% of new cars, average import age 11.9 years.

### Definitions
- Passenger cars: the ministry's "Autoturisme" file (M1 and M1G), one row per vehicle. New = "înscriere vehicul nou" (a new car's first registration); used = "înscriere vehicul uzat" (a used car's first Romanian registration, i.e. an import). Re-registrations of cars already in Romania are not in the file.
- A month is a flow: the file holds that month's first registrations and is final once posted; the ministry's own summary sheets in the same archive agree with the detail rows within a few cars (January 2023: 12,266 against 12,258).

Latest month: 2026-08. Files read on 2026-09-13; the site shows the latest 36 months. SNCA posts a month in the first week of the following month; STATEC's monthly tables (new cars, used imports, fuel, brand) are checked before every load and agree with the file to the unit (December 2023's file is about 50 cars short; fuel groups may differ by a few cars where a hybrid carries no fuel token).

Monthly passenger-car registrations by make and model, split into new and used cars, from the FPS Mobility and Transport vehicle registration directorate's (DIV) yearly open-data file: one count row per combination of month, new/used, region, make, commercial name, holder type, category, Euro norm, CO₂ band and fuel.

Latest month: 2025-12. DIV publishes a calendar year at a time (the 2025 file on 2026-03-25); files read on 2026-09-13; the site shows the latest 36 months. Statbel's yearly totals of new and used passenger cars agree with the file within 2 % and are checked before every load.

Headline for December 2025: 87 649 registrations, 29 037 new (33.1%), 58 612 used, BEV share 17.5%, PHEV share 7.2%, hybrid share 16.7%, private holders 35.3% of new cars.

## Sweden

Monthly new passenger-car registrations by make and model for Sweden, from Mobility Sweden's monthly report (the manufacturers' and importers' association), checked every month against Trafikanalys's monthly workbook of new registrations. New cars only: no used imports.

Latest month: 2026-08; files read on 2026-09-13; the site shows the latest 36 months. The whole history is re-read on every refresh.

Headline for August 2026: 22 584 new registrations, BEV share 44.6%, PHEV share 22.1%, hybrid share 9.0%, private buyers 43.6%, top model VOLVO XC60.

### Definitions
- New passenger cars registered in Sweden in the month as Mobility Sweden counts them (without cars imported directly by their owners, which Trafikanalys counts: the report runs 1-5 % below the official total); shares are of new registrations.
- Fuel groups from the report's fuel sheet: petrol, diesel, hybrid (no plug, full and mild), PHEV, battery electric, gas, other (ethanol, unspecified).
- Models are the association's own groupings ("EX/XC40", "S/V60") with the make prefix removed; every brand equals the sum of its model rows. BEV per model comes from the report's electric ranking (joined to the model table from March 2024; null before).
- Private share = new cars registered to physical persons ÷ all new cars; `private_pct` per brand likewise.
- MoM / YoY / rank change are omitted when the comparison month has fewer than 30 registrations (10 for the electric tables).

## Denmark

Monthly new passenger-car registrations for Denmark: totals, fuel mix, households' and leasing shares from Statistics Denmark (StatBank BIL53 and BIL55, from the Danish Motor Register), and registrations by make and model from Mobility Denmark's tables for the months auto-stats.eu has captured (4 months, 2025-07 to 2026-08; the association keeps no archive, so two months are added per month). New cars only: no used imports.

Latest month: 2026-08; files read on 2026-09-13; the site shows the latest 36 months.

Headline for August 2026: 16 219 new registrations, BEV share 85.6%, PHEV share 0.1%, households 66.6%, leasing 39.8%.

### Definitions
- New passenger cars registered in Denmark in the month (Statistics Denmark, new registrations); shares are of new registrations.
- Fuel groups: petrol, diesel, PHEV, battery electric, gas, other. Hybrids without a plug are not a category at Statistics Denmark (they count as petrol or diesel): `hybrid` is null.
- Households = cars registered to private persons (bought or privately leased); leasing = leased cars, private and business.
- Brands and models: Mobility Denmark's tables for the captured months (`meta.captured_months`; `captured` on each month document); shares in them are of the association's month total (`kpis.assoc_total`), which sits within 1.5 % of the official total. MoM / YoY for brands and models only where the comparison month was captured too.
- MoM / YoY / rank change are omitted when the comparison month has fewer than 30 registrations.
