Passenger-car registrations in Luxembourg

Luxembourg registered 5 046 passenger cars in November 2023: 3 650 new cars (72.3% of the total) and 1 396 used imports. That is down 12.4% on October 2023 and up 1.1% on November 2022. Year to date the market stands at 63 836 registrations, up 12.2% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 37.8% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 668 registrations and a 13.2% share, ahead of BMW (560) and MERCEDES-BENZ (452). Together the top three brands took 33.3% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, RENAULT grew fastest year on year (+77.4%) while AUDI fell furthest (−12.9%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 217 registrations, followed by the RENAULT CLIO (149) and the MINI MINI (116). The GOLF arrived mainly as a used import: 116 used against 101 new.

Battery-electric cars took 16.9% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 23.0%. Plug-in hybrids took 7.8%, other hybrids 17.7%, diesel 21.6% and petrol 35.7%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 111 battery-electric registrations, ahead of MG (95). The best-selling battery-electric model was the MINI MINI with 70 registrations, ahead of the MG MG4 (67). New cars averaged 107.1 g/km of CO₂ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 8.4 years old when they were registered.

November 2023 was the weakest of the 3 months on this page, which average 5 396 registrations a month; the strongest was October 2023 with 5 758.
