Latvia registered 6 860 passenger cars in July 2026: 2 444 new cars (35.6% of the total) and 4 416 used imports. That is up 11.4% on June 2026 and up 7.0% on July 2025. Year to date the market stands at 38 276 registrations, up 2.3% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 62.9% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

BMW led the brand ranking with 907 registrations and a 13.2% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (897) and TOYOTA (694). Together the top three brands took 36.4% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, VOLKSWAGEN grew fastest year on year (+19.6%) while OPEL fell furthest (โˆ’27.0%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 262 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA YARIS CROSS (173) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (168). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 261 used against 1 new.

Battery-electric cars took 12.8% of all registrations, compared with 8.9% in July 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 8.6%, diesel 38.9% and petrol 38.1%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 114 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (88). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TOYOTA BZ4X with 56 registrations, ahead of the AUDI E-TRON (52). Used imports were on average 11.7 years old when they were registered.

July 2026 was the strongest of the 36 months on this page, which average 5 160 registrations a month; the weakest was January 2024 with 3 738.
