Estonia registered 3 276 passenger cars in August 2026: 1 486 new cars (45.4% of the total) and 1 790 used imports. That is down 9.6% on July 2026 and up 54.8% on August 2025. Year to date the market stands at 25 523 registrations, up 67.0% on the same period of last year. Only 10.2% of the new cars went to private holders; the rest were registered to companies, including leasing firms.

BMW led the brand ranking with 458 registrations and a 14.0% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (308) and TOYOTA (300). Together the top three brands took 32.5% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, HYUNDAI grew fastest year on year (+182.1%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 119 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA COROLLA (98) and the BMW 5 SERIES (96). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 117 used against 2 new.

Battery-electric cars took 11.0% of all registrations, compared with 8.0% in August 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 8.0%, other hybrids 30.7%, diesel 29.1% and petrol 19.2%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 89 battery-electric registrations, ahead of TOYOTA (40). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 48 registrations, ahead of the TOYOTA BZ4X (32). New cars averaged 113.9 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 10.4 years old when they were registered.

August 2026 was the 19th-highest of the 36 months on this page, which average 3 211 registrations a month; the peak was December 2024 with 7 050 and the low January 2025 with 1 037.
