Passenger-car registrations in Luxembourg

Luxembourg registered 6 044 passenger cars in April 2025: 4 405 new cars (72.9% of the total) and 1 639 used imports. That is down 9.0% on March 2025 and up 0.5% on April 2024. Year to date the market stands at 24 089 registrations, up 2.4% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 53.7% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 825 registrations and a 13.7% share, ahead of BMW (707) and MERCEDES-BENZ (586). Together the top three brands took 35.1% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, PEUGEOT grew fastest year on year (+157.1%) while RENAULT fell furthest (−20.9%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 211 registrations, followed by the MINI MINI (134) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (122).

Battery-electric cars took 16.8% of all registrations, compared with 21.1% in April 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 22.7%. Plug-in hybrids took 8.0%, other hybrids 26.0%, diesel 17.1% and petrol 31.9%. The leading electric brand was BMW with 139 battery-electric registrations, ahead of MERCEDES-BENZ (112). The best-selling battery-electric model was the KIA EV3 with 64 registrations, ahead of the BMW IX2 (52). New cars averaged 102.9 g/km of CO₂ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 8.1 years old when they were registered.

April 2025 was the 4th-highest of the 20 months on this page, which average 5 505 registrations a month; the peak was March 2025 with 6 645 and the low August 2024 with 4 177.
