Passenger-car registrations in Luxembourg

Luxembourg registered 5 678 passenger cars in June 2025: 4 208 new cars (74.1% of the total) and 1 470 used imports. That is up 1.6% on May 2025 and down 3.4% on June 2024. Year to date the market stands at 35 356 registrations, up 1.9% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 49.2% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

BMW led the brand ranking with 739 registrations and a 13.0% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (658) and MERCEDES-BENZ (546). Together the top three brands took 34.2% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+54.3%) while VOLVO fell furthest (−12.3%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 171 registrations, followed by the BMW 3 SERIES (118) and the BMW X1 (116). The GOLF arrived mainly as a used import: 89 used against 82 new.

Battery-electric cars took 17.1% of all registrations, compared with 21.2% in June 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 22.3%. Plug-in hybrids took 6.9%, other hybrids 27.5%, diesel 16.1% and petrol 32.3%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 117 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (116). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 71 registrations, ahead of the SKODA ELROQ (47). New cars averaged 106.6 g/km of CO₂ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 8.6 years old when they were registered.

June 2025 was the 11th-highest of the 22 months on this page, which average 5 516 registrations a month; the peak was March 2025 with 6 645 and the low August 2024 with 4 177.
