Passenger-car registrations in Luxembourg

Luxembourg registered 4 975 passenger cars in December 2025: 3 401 new cars (68.4% of the total) and 1 574 used imports. That is down 1.0% on November 2025 and up 11.2% on December 2024. Year to date the market stands at 67 210 registrations, up 3.2% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 50.8% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 741 registrations and a 14.9% share, ahead of BMW (666) and AUDI (383). Together the top three brands took 36.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, FORD grew fastest year on year (+169.2%) while PEUGEOT fell furthest (−41.4%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 178 registrations, followed by the BMW IX1 (154) and the FORD PUMA (153). The GOLF arrived mainly as a used import: 110 used against 68 new.

Battery-electric cars took 25.2% of all registrations, compared with 20.3% in December 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 35.7%. Plug-in hybrids took 5.5%, other hybrids 22.2%, diesel 16.8% and petrol 30.2%. The leading electric brand was FORD with 261 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (215). The best-selling battery-electric model was the BMW IX1 with 154 registrations, ahead of the FORD PUMA (136). New cars averaged 89.2 g/km of CO₂ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 8.1 years old when they were registered.

December 2025 was the 23rd-highest of the 28 months on this page, which average 5 472 registrations a month; the peak was March 2025 with 6 645 and the low August 2024 with 4 177.
