Austria registered 81 144 passenger cars in November 2023: 18 900 new cars (23.3% of the total) and 62 244 used cars. That is down 4.7% on October 2023 and up 5.7% on November 2022. Year to date the market stands at 924 074 registrations, up 3.4% on the same period of last year.
VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 15 078 registrations and a 18.6% share, ahead of BMW (7 233) and AUDI (6 793). Together the top three brands took 35.9% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, HYUNDAI grew fastest year on year (+30.5%) while FORD fell furthest (−5.4%). The best-selling new-car model was the SKODA OCTAVIA with 542 new registrations, followed by the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (484) and the BMW X1 (451).
Battery-electric cars took 7.8% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 22.9%. Plug-in hybrids took 2.9%, other hybrids 9.1%, diesel 44.8% and petrol 35.4%. The leading electric brand was BMW with 777 battery-electric registrations, ahead of TESLA (752). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ENYAQ with 407 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (370).
November 2023 was the weakest of the 4 months on this page, which average 83 134 registrations a month; the strongest was October 2023 with 85 131.
