Austria registered 96 521 passenger cars in October 2025: 24 479 new cars (25.4% of the total) and 72 042 used cars. That is up 1.1% on September 2025 and down 1.2% on October 2024. Year to date the market stands at 944 343 registrations, up 3.8% on the same period of last year.
VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 17 282 registrations and a 17.9% share, ahead of BMW (8 230) and AUDI (8 111). Together the top three brands took 34.8% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, PEUGEOT grew fastest year on year (+13.1%) while AUDI fell furthest (−5.5%). The best-selling new-car model was the SKODA OCTAVIA with 846 new registrations, followed by the SEAT IBIZA (548) and the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (537).
Battery-electric cars took 8.8% of all registrations, compared with 7.1% in October 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 21.1%. Plug-in hybrids took 5.4%, other hybrids 14.2%, diesel 37.5% and petrol 34.1%. The leading electric brand was SKODA with 724 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (635). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ELROQ with 389 registrations, ahead of the SKODA ENYAQ (335).
October 2025 was the 8th-highest of the 27 months on this page, which average 89 791 registrations a month; the peak was June 2025 with 103 887 and the low December 2023 with 73 057.
