Austria registered 83 891 passenger cars in November 2025: 23 008 new cars (27.4% of the total) and 60 883 used cars. That is down 13.1% on October 2025 and up 0.4% on November 2024. Year to date the market stands at 1 028 234 registrations, up 3.6% on the same period of last year.
VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 15 603 registrations and a 18.6% share, ahead of BMW (7 079) and AUDI (6 638). Together the top three brands took 35.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, HYUNDAI grew fastest year on year (+28.0%) while FORD fell furthest (−8.4%). The best-selling new-car model was the SKODA OCTAVIA with 608 new registrations, followed by the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (543) and the VOLKSWAGEN POLO (509).
Battery-electric cars took 9.0% of all registrations, compared with 7.3% in November 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 20.5%. Plug-in hybrids took 5.6%, other hybrids 14.2%, diesel 37.3% and petrol 33.9%. The leading electric brand was SKODA with 557 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (540). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ENYAQ with 311 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (276).
November 2025 was the 19th-highest of the 28 months on this page, which average 89 580 registrations a month; the peak was June 2025 with 103 887 and the low December 2023 with 73 057.
