Czechia registered 31 761 passenger cars in January 2024: 20 361 new cars (64.1% of the total) and 11 400 used imports. That is up 28.6% on December 2023 and up 10.5% on January 2023. Year to date, meaning January alone, the total is 31 761, up 10.5% on January last year. Private buyers accounted for 21.0% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

SKODA led the brand ranking with 11 441 registrations and a 36.0% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (3 767) and TOYOTA (1 743). Together the top three brands took 53.4% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+34.7%) while MERCEDES-BENZ fell furthest (โˆ’26.4%). The best-selling model was the SKODA OCTAVIA with 2 545 registrations, followed by the SKODA KAMIQ (1 547) and the SKODA FABIA (1 213).

Battery-electric cars took 2.4% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 2.1%, other hybrids 16.6%, diesel 21.6% and petrol 55.2%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 116 battery-electric registrations, ahead of SKODA (88). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 89 registrations, ahead of the SKODA ENYAQ (88). New cars averaged 135.0 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 10.2 years old when they were registered.

January 2024 was the 2nd-highest of the 5 months on this page, which average 30 010 registrations a month; the peak was October 2023 with 32 883 and the low December 2023 with 24 697.
