Sources

The importers' association SDA/CIA (Svaz dovozců automobilů) publishes a monthly registration workbook in its free repository, compiled for it from the Ministry of Transport's central vehicle register ("Zdroj dat: Centrální registr vozidel Ministerstva dopravy ČR" on every sheet). One workbook per month is read, from January 2022. The sheets used:

• OA za měsíc (with its "other makes" companion) — new passenger cars by make; the source of every brand row and of the make list that splits the model labels.
• OA typy měsíc — new passenger cars by make and model; the source of every model row.
• OA paliva za měsíc Typy and OA Paliva za měsíc — fuel per model and per make (petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG, hydrogen, electric, plug-in petrol, plug-in diesel).
• Hybridy za měsíc — non-plug and plug-in hybrids per model, which the fuel sheets record under petrol and diesel.
• Ojetiny OA za měsíc — used imports by make and age band with the publisher's average age; Ojetiny M1 za měsíc paliva — used imports by make and fuel, from 2024.
• CO2 OA za měsíc paliva — the publisher's average CO₂ of new cars; OA Provozovatel za měsíc — new cars by company and private holder.

Workbook extracted: 2026-09-13. Latest complete month: 2026-08. The site shows the latest 36 months. A workbook is a complete month, so nothing on these pages is provisional and no register snapshot sits behind any figure. The ministry's own monthly summary ("Celkový přehled") must agree with the workbook's new and used totals to the car before a month is published.

What is counted

• New: a new passenger car (the ministry's "OA" class, osobní automobily) first registered in Czechia in the month.
• Used import (ojetiny): a used car imported and first registered in Czechia. The total is new plus used.
• Models are the publisher's own and exist for new cars only. Some makes have rows without a model (Mini, the motorhome makers): their cars count in the brand total but appear in no model row, so a brand's total can exceed the sum of its listed models. Model shares are shares of the workbook's own new-car total.
• Used imports are published by make, age band and, from 2024, fuel — never by model.
• The publisher re-uploads earlier months. Every month of the window is reloaded on each refresh, the previous run's totals are kept, and any month whose new or used total moved by more than 0.5 % is listed in the refresh report; a move above 10 % stops the refresh.

Fuel groups

Petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric, gas (CNG / LPG, incl. bi-fuel) and other. The fuel sheets record full hybrids under petrol or diesel; the hybrid sheet lists them per model, so the hybrid group is taken out of petrol and diesel from there (or out of the LPG/CNG bi-fuel column where the hybrid is also a bi-fuel car, as Dacia's mild-hybrid ECO-G models are) and includes mild hybrids, as the register records them. Every fuel figure on the monthly page counts new cars only: used imports carry no fuel before 2024 and no hybrid split at all. The used fuel mix from 2024 is on the Imports page; its make rows cover about 0.5 % fewer cars than the used total (the publisher's "other makes" companion of that sheet is incomplete), so its shares are of the listed rows. Until December 2023 the publisher's "unclassified" fuel column held about 1 % of new cars (shown under other); since January 2024 it is nearly empty.

Age at import and CO₂

Age at import in the publisher's bands: up to 1 year, 1–3, 3–5, 5–10, 10–15 and over 15 years; the average is the publisher's own. The publisher's own average CO₂ of the month's new passenger cars (g/km), from its CO2 table; nothing is recomputed here. No origin country and no CO₂ per used car are published.

Registrations

New passenger cars (the ministry's 'OA' class) first registered in Czechia plus used cars imported and first registered in the month, from the SDA/CIA monthly statistics compiled from the Ministry of Transport's central vehicle register.

New cars / New share

New passenger cars first registered in Czechia in the month. New share = new cars ÷ all registrations.

Used imports / Avg import age (yrs)

Used passenger cars imported and first registered in Czechia ('ojetiny'). Average import age is the publisher's own figure for the month's imports.

New-car BEV share

Battery-electric share of new cars. Used imports carry no fuel split before 2024 and no hybrid split at all, so every fuel figure on this page counts new cars only. PHEV = plug-in hybrids.

Hybrid share

Non-plug hybrids (mild hybrids included, as the register records them) as a share of new cars.

Private holders

Share of the month's new cars registered to a private person rather than a company (leasing, rental, dealers, fleets).

Avg CO₂, new (g/km)

The publisher's own average CO₂ of the month's new passenger cars (g/km), from its CO2 table; nothing is recomputed here.

MoM / YoY / YTD

Change versus the previous month, versus the same month a year earlier, and the calendar-year-to-date total (with its change versus the same period a year earlier).

Checks

At ingest every workbook must reproduce its own totals exactly: the make rows against the Celkem row, for new and used; the model rows never above it; the fuel rows equal to the model rows, label by label; the company and private holders equal to the new total; the used age bands equal to the used total; and the hybrid sheet's plug-ins within 5 % of the fuel sheet's. The ministry's monthly summary must equal the workbook's new and used totals for the latest month. An acceptance gate reviews the top 40 makes and models for coverage, sibling makes that should be one brand, and single-letter or otherwise suspect model names. A sanity gate rejects an export whose latest month is less than half the previous month, whose month series has a gap, or where any mart is empty. An identity gate compares the exported new, used and total counts, the brand rows, the model rows and the new-car fuel groups against the workbook's totals, and fails if taking the hybrids out leaves a negative petrol or diesel cell for any make. A fuel gate fails when more than 2 % of a month's new cars carry an unmapped fuel column. Finally, a consistency audit re-derives shares, sums, MoM, YoY and rankings from the exported JSON and fails on any mismatch.

Caveats

• Counts are the SDA/CIA's monthly tables, compiled from the Ministry of Transport's central vehicle register and reproducing the ministry's own monthly totals to the car. Models exist for new cars only; a brand's total can exceed the sum of its listed models (cars of makes without a model row, e.g. Mini and motorhome makers). Used imports are published by make, age and, from 2024, fuel.
• Percentages are shown only when the comparison month has at least 30 registrations.
• Make and model names are normalised: the publisher's "Make MODEL" labels are split against its own make list (the "RANGE ROVER" rows belong to Land Rover, "MG4" to MG), Škoda becomes SKODA, BMW is grouped by series and Mercedes-Benz by class. Omoda and Jaecoo, two makes in the 2025 workbooks and one "Omoda/Jaecoo" make from 2026, are shown as the combined brand OMODA/JAECOO with the brand word in the model name (OMODA 5, JAECOO 7); the Dongfeng group's "Dongfeng/Forthing", "Dongfeng/Voyah" and similar labels are shown as the brand after the slash. The publisher's "unclassified" make is UNKNOWN. Motorhome converters stay brands of their own. The full alias table is in the repository.
• The publisher's "type not determined" cars (about 180 a month) count in their brand's total but in no model row, so a brand's listed models fall slightly short of its brand row.
• Brands with fewer than 50 registrations over the 36 months have no brand page and appear as plain text in the tables.
• Registration is not sale: dealer demo stock and leasing fleets register too (73 % of new cars are registered to companies).

Every page is generated from JSON under /data/cz/: meta.json, months.json, YYYY-MM.json (with kpis, models[], makes[], fuel[], import_make[], import_age[], bev_models[], bev_makes[]), makes.json, makes/<slug>.json.
