Denmark registered 17 413 new passenger cars in December 2024. That is up 16.5% on November 2024 and down 9.3% on December 2023. Year to date the market stands at 173 436 registrations, up 171.9% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 55.9% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets. Leasing accounted for 62.2% of the month's registrations, private leasing alone for 23.1%.
No brand or model table exists for December 2024: the importers' association publishes its make and model tables only for its two most recent months and keeps no archive, and auto-stats.eu captures them month by month from the time it added the market. Battery-electric cars took 61.6% of new registrations, compared with 51.4% in December 2023. Plug-in hybrids took 4.0%, diesel 5.7% and petrol 28.7%.
December 2024 was the 3rd-highest of the 16 months on this page, which average 14 826 registrations a month; the peak was June 2024 with 19 578 and the low January 2024 with 8 861.
