Denmark registered 18 061 new passenger cars in May 2025. That is up 18.5% on April 2025 and up 23.3% on May 2024. Year to date the market stands at 70 893 registrations, up 5.7% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 57.1% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets. Leasing accounted for 57.3% of the month's registrations, private leasing alone for 20.1%.
No brand or model table exists for May 2025: the importers' association publishes its make and model tables only for its two most recent months and keeps no archive, and auto-stats.eu captures them month by month from the time it added the market. Battery-electric cars took 60.6% of new registrations, compared with 49.3% in May 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 2.5%, diesel 5.1% and petrol 31.8%.
May 2025 was the 3rd-highest of the 21 months on this page, which average 14 672 registrations a month; the peak was June 2024 with 19 578 and the low January 2024 with 8 861.
