New passenger-car registrations in Denmark

Denmark registered 12 874 new passenger cars in January 2026. That is down 30.5% on December 2025 and up 18.6% on January 2025. Year to date, meaning January alone, the total is 12 874, up 18.6% on January last year. Private buyers accounted for 64.6% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets. Leasing accounted for 43.1% of the month's registrations, private leasing alone for 16.2%.

No brand or model table exists for January 2026: the importers' association publishes its make and model tables only for its two most recent months and keeps no archive, and auto-stats.eu captures them month by month from the time it added the market. Battery-electric cars took 82.4% of new registrations, compared with 64.1% in January 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 1.1%, diesel 3.2% and petrol 13.3%.

January 2026 was the 23rd-highest of the 29 months on this page, which average 15 017 registrations a month; the peak was June 2024 with 19 578 and the low January 2024 with 8 861.
