Lithuania registered 12 301 passenger cars in May 2024: 2 330 new cars (18.9% of the total) and 9 964 used imports. That is up 4.6% on April 2024 and up 9.6% on May 2023. Private buyers accounted for 82.5% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 1 469 registrations and a 11.9% share, ahead of BMW (1 452) and TOYOTA (1 226). Together the top three brands took 33.7% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+26.7%) while VOLKSWAGEN fell furthest (โˆ’4.5%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 380 registrations, followed by the BMW 5 SERIES (372) and the VOLVO XC60 (309). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 378 used against 2 new.

Battery-electric cars took 3.3% of all registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 3.0%, other hybrids 15.7%, diesel 53.6% and petrol 21.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 78 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (64). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 39 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (36). New cars averaged 131.0 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 10.5 years old when they were registered.

May 2024 was the strongest of the 11 months on this page, which average 10 157 registrations a month; the weakest was January 2024 with 8 660.
