Lithuania registered 9 926 passenger cars in December 2024: 2 149 new cars (21.7% of the total) and 7 727 used imports. That is down 6.1% on November 2024 and up 13.7% on December 2023. Private buyers accounted for 78.1% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 1 246 registrations and a 12.6% share, ahead of BMW (1 189) and TOYOTA (1 065). Together the top three brands took 35.3% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, FORD grew fastest year on year (+48.0%) while NISSAN fell furthest (โˆ’0.4%). The best-selling model was the BMW 5 SERIES with 306 registrations, followed by the BMW 3 SERIES (298) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (251). The 5 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 297 used against 8 new.

Battery-electric cars took 3.8% of all registrations, compared with 4.4% in December 2023. Plug-in hybrids took 5.1%, other hybrids 17.6%, diesel 51.8% and petrol 19.6%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 84 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (53). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 34 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (30). New cars averaged 144.3 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 10.3 years old when they were registered.

December 2024 was the 14th-highest of the 18 months on this page, which average 10 615 registrations a month; the peak was October 2024 with 12 602 and the low January 2024 with 8 660.
