Lithuania registered 16 724 passenger cars in May 2026: 4 811 new cars (28.8% of the total) and 11 839 used imports. That is down 7.9% on April 2026 and up 28.1% on May 2025. Private buyers accounted for 71.8% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 133 registrations and a 12.8% share, ahead of TOYOTA (2 002) and BMW (1 953). Together the top three brands took 36.4% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+65.5%). The best-selling model was the TOYOTA RAV4 with 498 registrations, followed by the BMW 3 SERIES (488) and the SKODA OCTAVIA (466).

Battery-electric cars took 5.7% of all registrations, compared with 4.4% in May 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 7.0%, other hybrids 23.6%, diesel 42.3% and petrol 19.7%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 185 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (106). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 115 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (47). New cars averaged 123.1 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 10.6 years old when they were registered.

May 2026 was the 2nd-highest of the 35 months on this page, which average 11 565 registrations a month; the peak was April 2026 with 18 156 and the low January 2024 with 8 660.
