DIV publishes a full calendar year at a time: the latest month is December 2025, from the file published on 2026-03-25. The next year's file usually arrives in the following spring.

Belgium registered 93 043 passenger cars in April 2023: 40 016 new cars (43.0% of the total) and 53 027 used cars. That is down 18.4% on March 2023 and up 17.9% on April 2022. Year to date the market stands at 397 681 registrations, up 12.8% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 34.9% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 9 991 registrations and a 10.7% share, ahead of BMW (9 733) and MERCEDES-BENZ (7 049). Together the top three brands took 28.8% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, AUDI grew fastest year on year (+20.9%) while CITROEN fell furthest (โˆ’4.8%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 2 924 registrations, followed by the OPEL CORSA (2 087) and the BMW 3 SERIES (1 814). The GOLF arrived mainly as a used car: 2 233 used against 691 new.

Battery-electric cars took 7.8% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 16.2%. Hybrids took 20.6%, diesel 24.4% and petrol 46.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 1 034 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (962). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 606 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (449).

April 2023 was the weakest of the 4 months on this page, which average 99 420 registrations a month; the strongest was March 2023 with 113 996.

Counts are DIV's yearly open-data file, one row per combination of month, new/used, region, make, commercial name, holder type, category, Euro norm, COโ‚‚ band and fuel with its number of registrations, summed here. 'Used' is every registration of a car registered before, in Belgium or abroad. Models are the commercial names as typed at registration, normalised; from January 2024 the file leaves the name blank on 3โ€“4 % of registrations (older used cars), against under 0.5 % before, so used-car model rows and their year-on-year changes drop a little at that boundary. Plug-in hybrids are separable from January 2024 (the new file layout); earlier months count them among the hybrids and show no PHEV figure. Percentages are shown only when the comparison month has at least 30 registrations.
