DIV publishes a full calendar year at a time: the latest month is December 2025, from the file published on 2026-03-25. The next year's file usually arrives in the following spring.

Belgium registered 106 253 passenger cars in March 2024: 44 913 new cars (42.3% of the total) and 61 340 used cars. That is up 1.2% on February 2024 and down 6.8% on March 2023. Year to date the market stands at 319 690 registrations, up 4.9% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 41.4% of the new cars; the rest were registered to companies, leasing firms and fleets.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 11 504 registrations and a 10.8% share, ahead of BMW (10 445) and MERCEDES-BENZ (7 812). Together the top three brands took 28.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, VOLVO grew fastest year on year (+16.3%) while PEUGEOT fell furthest (โˆ’34.4%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 3 519 registrations, followed by the AUDI A3 (2 026) and the OPEL CORSA (1 985). The GOLF arrived mainly as a used car: 2 391 used against 1 128 new.

Battery-electric cars took 12.6% of all registrations, compared with 9.1% in March 2023. Among new cars alone the electric share was 26.1%. Plug-in hybrids took 8.4%, other hybrids 13.2%, diesel 19.8% and petrol 45.3%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 3 451 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (2 178). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 801 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (1 512).

March 2024 was the 4th-highest of the 15 months on this page, which average 99 092 registrations a month; the peak was June 2023 with 119 407 and the low December 2023 with 75 621.

Counts are DIV's yearly open-data file, one row per combination of month, new/used, region, make, commercial name, holder type, category, Euro norm, COโ‚‚ band and fuel with its number of registrations, summed here. 'Used' is every registration of a car registered before, in Belgium or abroad. Models are the commercial names as typed at registration, normalised; from January 2024 the file leaves the name blank on 3โ€“4 % of registrations (older used cars), against under 0.5 % before, so used-car model rows and their year-on-year changes drop a little at that boundary. Plug-in hybrids are separable from January 2024 (the new file layout); earlier months count them among the hybrids and show no PHEV figure. Percentages are shown only when the comparison month has at least 30 registrations.
