Spain registered 90 533 passenger cars in October 2023: 81 500 new cars (90.0% of the total) and 9 033 used imports. That is up 27.8% on September 2023 and up 22.0% on October 2022. Year to date the market stands at 864 145 registrations, up 15.0% on the same period of last year.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 7 200 registrations and a 8.0% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (6 473) and KIA (6 070). Together the top three brands took 21.8% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, DACIA grew fastest year on year (+80.3%) while CITROEN fell furthest (โˆ’8.0%). The best-selling model was the DACIA SANDERO with 3 085 registrations, followed by the MG ZS (2 596) and the FIAT 500 (1 904).

Battery-electric cars took 6.4% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 6.9%. Plug-in hybrids took 5.2%, other hybrids 31.3%, diesel 16.9% and petrol 36.9%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 792 battery-electric registrations, ahead of KIA (641). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 633 registrations, ahead of the KIA NIRO (363). New cars averaged 114.8 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 9.3 years old when they were registered.

October 2023 was the strongest of the 3 months on this page, which average 74 687 registrations a month; the weakest was August 2023 with 62 714.
