Spain registered 102 191 passenger cars in April 2024: 91 692 new cars (89.7% of the total) and 10 499 used imports. That is down 1.3% on March 2024 and up 25.8% on April 2023. Year to date the market stands at 371 447 registrations, up 8.7% on the same period of last year.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 9 273 registrations and a 9.1% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (8 931) and SEAT (7 034). Together the top three brands took 24.7% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TOYOTA grew fastest year on year (+62.3%) while KIA fell furthest (โˆ’6.5%). The best-selling model was the DACIA SANDERO with 3 424 registrations, followed by the SEAT IBIZA (2 565) and the RENAULT CLIO (2 458).

Battery-electric cars took 4.2% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 4.4%. Plug-in hybrids took 4.7%, other hybrids 29.2%, diesel 15.7% and petrol 42.7%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 962 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (353). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 626 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (297). New cars averaged 118.8 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 9.1 years old when they were registered.

April 2024 was the 2nd-highest of the 9 months on this page, which average 85 681 registrations a month; the peak was March 2024 with 103 498 and the low August 2023 with 62 714.
