Spain registered 105 751 passenger cars in May 2024: 95 277 new cars (90.1% of the total) and 10 474 used imports. That is up 3.5% on April 2024 and up 5.8% on May 2023. Year to date the market stands at 477 198 registrations, up 8.1% on the same period of last year.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 8 587 registrations and a 8.1% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (8 488) and PEUGEOT (7 296). Together the top three brands took 23.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, CITROEN grew fastest year on year (+28.4%) while KIA fell furthest (โˆ’15.4%). The best-selling model was the CITROEN C3 with 2 879 registrations, followed by the PEUGEOT 2008 (2 747) and the DACIA SANDERO (2 558).

Battery-electric cars took 4.5% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 4.8%. Plug-in hybrids took 4.4%, other hybrids 31.7%, diesel 16.2% and petrol 41.0%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 1 169 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (428). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 815 registrations, ahead of the VOLVO EX30 (366). New cars averaged 119.1 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 9.5 years old when they were registered.

May 2024 was the strongest of the 10 months on this page, which average 87 688 registrations a month; the weakest was August 2023 with 62 714.
