Sweden registered 18 766 new passenger cars in February 2024. That is up 9.3% on January 2024. Year to date the market stands at 35 930 registrations. Private buyers accounted for 29.7% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 3 670 registrations and a 19.6% share, ahead of TOYOTA (1 760) and VOLKSWAGEN (1 693). Together the top three brands took 38.0% of the market. The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 1 110 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL Y (997) and the VOLVO S/V60 (818).

Battery-electric cars took 27.9% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 23.9%, other hybrids 10.1%, diesel 8.4% and petrol 25.5%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 1 185 battery-electric registrations, ahead of TESLA (1 058). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 997 registrations, ahead of the VOLVO EX/XC40 (561).

February 2024 was the 5th-highest of the 6 months on this page, which average 23 987 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low January 2024 with 17 164.
