Sweden registered 23 891 new passenger cars in March 2024. That is up 27.3% on February 2024. Year to date the market stands at 59 821 registrations. Private buyers accounted for 32.1% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 3 985 registrations and a 16.7% share, ahead of TESLA (2 524) and VOLKSWAGEN (2 134). Together the top three brands took 36.2% of the market. The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 2 011 registrations, followed by the VOLVO XC60 (1 079) and the VOLVO S/V60 (888).

Battery-electric cars took 34.9% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 23.2%, other hybrids 7.7%, diesel 7.1% and petrol 23.8%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 2 524 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (1 463). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 2 011 registrations, ahead of the VOLVO EX30 (652).

March 2024 was the 5th-highest of the 7 months on this page, which average 23 973 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low January 2024 with 17 164.
