Sweden registered 25 401 new passenger cars in June 2024. That is up 1.2% on May 2024. Year to date the market stands at 132 293 registrations. Private buyers accounted for 34.4% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 3 929 registrations and a 15.5% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (2 828) and TESLA (2 745). Together the top three brands took 37.4% of the market. The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 2 121 registrations, followed by the VOLVO XC60 (1 338) and the POLESTAR 2 (937).

Battery-electric cars took 35.9% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 20.6%, other hybrids 10.2%, diesel 7.3% and petrol 24.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 2 745 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (1 357). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 2 121 registrations, ahead of the POLESTAR 2 (937).

June 2024 was the 4th-highest of the 10 months on this page, which average 24 029 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low January 2024 with 17 164.
