Sweden registered 16 337 new passenger cars in July 2024. That is down 35.7% on June 2024. Year to date the market stands at 148 630 registrations. Private buyers accounted for 37.1% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 2 863 registrations and a 17.5% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (1 743) and MERCEDES-BENZ (1 403). Together the top three brands took 36.8% of the market. The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 1 014 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL Y (1 001) and the VOLVO S/V60 (535).

Battery-electric cars took 33.8% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 25.8%, other hybrids 9.9%, diesel 8.7% and petrol 20.9%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 1 146 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (887). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 001 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (458).

July 2024 was the weakest of the 11 months on this page, which average 23 329 registrations a month; the strongest was December 2023 with 29 436.
