Sweden registered 25 026 new passenger cars in October 2024. That is down 2.7% on September 2024 and unchanged on October 2023. Year to date the market stands at 218 417 registrations, up 310.9% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 37.3% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 5 127 registrations and a 20.5% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (3 147) and KIA (1 806). Together the top three brands took 40.3% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, PEUGEOT grew fastest year on year (+81.3%) while KIA fell furthest (−31.3%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 1 844 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL Y (1 028) and the VOLVO EX/XC40 (905).

Battery-electric cars took 35.1% of new registrations, compared with 37.6% in October 2023. Plug-in hybrids took 27.1%, other hybrids 10.7%, diesel 5.7% and petrol 20.0%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 1 790 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (1 696). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 028 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.7/ID.7 TOURER (779).

October 2024 was the 7th-highest of the 14 months on this page, which average 23 315 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low July 2024 with 16 337.
