Sweden registered 27 565 new passenger cars in June 2025. That is up 7.4% on May 2025 and up 8.5% on June 2024. Year to date the market stands at 140 976 registrations, up 6.6% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 33.5% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 4 687 registrations and a 17.0% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (3 643) and MERCEDES-BENZ (1 866). Together the top three brands took 37.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, BMW grew fastest year on year (+56.5%) while TESLA fell furthest (โˆ’64.4%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 1 700 registrations, followed by the VOLVO EX/XC40 (938) and the TESLA MODEL Y (867).

Battery-electric cars took 38.9% of new registrations, compared with 35.9% in June 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 26.4%, other hybrids 8.5%, diesel 5.7% and petrol 20.5%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 1 827 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (1 572). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 867 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.7/ID.7 TOURER (830).

June 2025 was the 3rd-highest of the 22 months on this page, which average 23 571 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low July 2024 with 16 337.
