Sweden registered 17 684 new passenger cars in July 2025. That is down 35.8% on June 2025 and up 8.2% on July 2024. Year to date the market stands at 158 660 registrations, up 6.7% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 42.3% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 2 701 registrations and a 15.3% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (2 446) and SKODA (1 537). Together the top three brands took 37.8% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, CUPRA grew fastest year on year (+191.0%) while MERCEDES-BENZ fell furthest (−8.6%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 814 registrations, followed by the SKODA KODIAQ (565) and the VOLVO EX/XC40 (487).

Battery-electric cars took 34.9% of new registrations, compared with 33.8% in July 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 27.4%, other hybrids 9.3%, diesel 6.3% and petrol 22.1%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 1 227 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (1 070). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLVO EX30 with 470 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.7/ID.7 TOURER (468).

July 2025 was the 21st-highest of the 23 months on this page, which average 23 315 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low July 2024 with 16 337.
