Sweden registered 24 078 new passenger cars in October 2025. That is down 4.4% on September 2025 and down 3.8% on October 2024. Year to date the market stands at 228 105 registrations, up 4.4% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 41.1% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 5 242 registrations and a 21.8% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (3 476) and TOYOTA (1 988). Together the top three brands took 44.5% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, BMW grew fastest year on year (+30.9%) while PEUGEOT fell furthest (−21.5%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 2 011 registrations, followed by the VOLVO EX/XC40 (1 450) and the VOLKSWAGEN ID.7/ID.7 TOURER (738).

Battery-electric cars took 36.2% of new registrations, compared with 35.1% in October 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 29.5%, other hybrids 11.2%, diesel 5.2% and petrol 17.8%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 1 855 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (1 595). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLVO EX/XC40 with 1 104 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.7/ID.7 TOURER (738).

October 2025 was the 16th-highest of the 26 months on this page, which average 23 295 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 29 436 and the low July 2024 with 16 337.
