Sweden registered 29 759 new passenger cars in June 2026. That is up 14.5% on May 2026 and up 8.0% on June 2025. Year to date the market stands at 141 851 registrations, up 0.6% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 37.6% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 5 463 registrations and a 18.4% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (3 444) and KIA (2 318). Together the top three brands took 37.7% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TESLA grew fastest year on year (+56.3%) while MERCEDES-BENZ fell furthest (โˆ’17.6%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 2 092 registrations, followed by the TESLA MODEL Y (1 365) and the VOLVO EX/XC40 (1 261).

Battery-electric cars took 43.7% of new registrations, compared with 38.9% in June 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 25.3%, other hybrids 5.8%, diesel 6.1% and petrol 18.8%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 2 384 battery-electric registrations, ahead of KIA (1 635). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 365 registrations, ahead of the VOLVO EX/XC40 (982).

June 2026 was the strongest of the 34 months on this page, which average 23 307 registrations a month; the weakest was January 2026 with 16 041.
