Sweden registered 18 684 new passenger cars in July 2026. That is down 37.2% on June 2026 and up 5.7% on July 2025. Year to date the market stands at 160 535 registrations, up 1.2% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 47.0% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

VOLVO led the brand ranking with 3 020 registrations and a 16.2% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (2 357) and KIA (1 912). Together the top three brands took 39.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TOYOTA grew fastest year on year (+45.7%) while SKODA fell furthest (−40.5%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO XC60 with 927 registrations, followed by the VOLVO EX/XC40 (780) and the VOLVO EX30 (572).

Battery-electric cars took 42.6% of new registrations, compared with 34.9% in July 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 23.8%, other hybrids 7.1%, diesel 7.4% and petrol 18.8%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 1 714 battery-electric registrations, ahead of KIA (1 392). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLVO EX/XC40 with 695 registrations, ahead of the VOLVO EX30 (572).

July 2026 was the 31st-highest of the 35 months on this page, which average 23 175 registrations a month; the peak was June 2026 with 29 759 and the low January 2026 with 16 041.
