Passenger-car registrations per 1,000 inhabitants, each market's latest twelve months
The size of a car market says little until it is set against the number of people who live there. The table divides each market's registrations of the last twelve months by the country's population on 1 January of the year the window ends in. The new-car column is the comparable one and the table is sorted by it.

What stands out
Measured on new cars, Luxembourg registers the most for its size, 70.4 new cars per 1,000 inhabitants in a year, and Romania the fewest, 7.7. Germany (35.3) and Belgium (35.1) follow the leader. Used imports change the order: in Lithuania they lift the figure from 13.5 new cars to 56.1 registrations per 1,000 inhabitants.
