Poland registered 112 070 passenger cars in August 2026: 46 322 new cars (41.3% of the total) and 65 748 used imports. That is down 15.6% on July 2026 and up 2.1% on August 2025. Year to date the market stands at 964 746 registrations, unchanged on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 10 414 registrations and a 9.3% share, ahead of TOYOTA (8 626) and AUDI (7 017). Together the top three brands took 23.3% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, VOLKSWAGEN grew fastest year on year (+14.7%) while HYUNDAI fell furthest (−20.5%). The best-selling model was the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF with 2 583 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA COROLLA (2 216) and the KIA SPORTAGE (2 136). The GOLF arrived mainly as a used import: 1 923 used against 660 new.

Battery-electric cars took 2.7% of all registrations, compared with 3.5% in August 2025. Among new cars alone the electric share was 4.9%. Hybrids took 24.0%, diesel 22.4% and petrol 48.6%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 283 battery-electric registrations, ahead of AUDI (233). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 123 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (100). Used imports were on average 11.4 years old when they were registered.

August 2026 was the 16th-highest of the 20 months on this page, which average 121 272 registrations a month; the peak was March 2026 with 140 753 and the low January 2026 with 98 673.

Counts are first registrations of passenger cars in Poland in the month, read from the CEPiK API filtered on the date of first Polish registration, deregistered vehicles included; every passenger car first registered in the month is counted once. New and used imports are told apart by the registration dates. A month is re-read every day until fourteen days after it ends and is then final. Percentages are shown only when the comparison month has at least 30 registrations.
