Estonia registered 3 022 passenger cars in January 2024: 1 589 new cars (52.6% of the total) and 1 433 used imports. That is down 10.9% on December 2023 and down 16.2% on January 2023. Year to date, meaning January alone, the total is 3 022, down 16.2% on January last year. Only 11.0% of the new cars went to private holders; the rest were registered to companies, including leasing firms.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 396 registrations and a 13.1% share, ahead of SKODA (368) and BMW (300). Together the top three brands took 35.2% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+21.1%) while AUDI fell furthest (โˆ’41.5%). The best-selling model was the SKODA OCTAVIA with 156 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA RAV4 (127) and the TOYOTA COROLLA (115).

Battery-electric cars took 5.8% of all registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 4.0%, other hybrids 27.2%, diesel 35.3% and petrol 19.3%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 33 battery-electric registrations, ahead of MERCEDES-BENZ (18). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 13 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (13). New cars averaged 133.2 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 9.3 years old when they were registered.

January 2024 was the weakest of the 5 months on this page, which average 3 591 registrations a month; the strongest was September 2023 with 3 907.
