Estonia registered 3 919 passenger cars in May 2024: 1 911 new cars (48.8% of the total) and 2 008 used imports. That is up 10.2% on April 2024 and down 17.4% on May 2023. Year to date the market stands at 16 762 registrations, down 16.3% on the same period of last year. Only 12.0% of the new cars went to private holders; the rest were registered to companies, including leasing firms.

BMW led the brand ranking with 431 registrations and a 11.0% share, ahead of SKODA (378) and TOYOTA (374). Together the top three brands took 30.2% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SUBARU grew fastest year on year (+45.3%) while AUDI fell furthest (โˆ’57.7%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 120 registrations, followed by the SKODA OCTAVIA (117) and the TOYOTA COROLLA (112). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 101 used against 19 new.

Battery-electric cars took 5.5% of all registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 4.1%, other hybrids 27.9%, diesel 34.2% and petrol 21.8%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 32 battery-electric registrations, ahead of SKODA (25). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ENYAQ with 25 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (16). New cars averaged 134.1 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 9.5 years old when they were registered.

May 2024 was the strongest of the 9 months on this page, which average 3 522 registrations a month; the weakest was February 2024 with 2 928.
