Estonia registered 3 724 passenger cars in August 2024: 1 722 new cars (46.2% of the total) and 2 002 used imports. That is down 4.4% on July 2024 and down 8.9% on August 2023. Year to date the market stands at 27 938 registrations, down 13.7% on the same period of last year. Only 12.8% of the new cars went to private holders; the rest were registered to companies, including leasing firms.

BMW led the brand ranking with 415 registrations and a 11.1% share, ahead of SKODA (363) and TOYOTA (348). Together the top three brands took 30.2% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, DACIA grew fastest year on year (+127.3%) while KIA fell furthest (โˆ’35.2%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 111 registrations, followed by the SKODA KODIAQ (103) and the TOYOTA RAV4 (103). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 109 used against 2 new.

Battery-electric cars took 5.6% of all registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 6.6%, other hybrids 27.8%, diesel 31.7% and petrol 19.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 34 battery-electric registrations, ahead of MERCEDES-BENZ (19). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 15 registrations, ahead of the HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 (11). New cars averaged 127.6 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 8.7 years old when they were registered.

August 2024 was the 6th-highest of the 12 months on this page, which average 3 573 registrations a month; the peak was May 2024 with 3 919 and the low February 2024 with 2 928.
