Estonia registered 1 037 passenger cars in January 2025: 534 new cars (51.5% of the total) and 503 used imports. That is down 85.3% on December 2024 and down 65.7% on January 2024. Year to date, meaning January alone, the total is 1 037, down 65.7% on January last year. Only 7.9% of the new cars went to private holders; the rest were registered to companies, including leasing firms.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 162 registrations and a 15.6% share, ahead of BMW (104) and SKODA (90). Together the top three brands took 34.3% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TESLA grew fastest year on year (+57.1%) while SKODA fell furthest (โˆ’75.5%). The best-selling model was the TOYOTA COROLLA with 62 registrations, followed by the BMW 3 SERIES (39) and the SKODA KODIAQ (32).

Battery-electric cars took 15.8% of all registrations, compared with 5.8% in January 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 12.6%, other hybrids 27.8%, diesel 22.3% and petrol 11.9%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 53 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (15). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 28 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (15). New cars averaged 103.1 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 8.7 years old when they were registered.

January 2025 was the weakest of the 17 months on this page, which average 3 907 registrations a month; the strongest was December 2024 with 7 050.
