Estonia registered 2 377 passenger cars in May 2025: 1 414 new cars (59.5% of the total) and 963 used imports. That is up 21.6% on April 2025 and down 39.3% on May 2024. Year to date the market stands at 8 310 registrations, down 50.4% on the same period of last year. Only 9.3% of the new cars went to private holders; the rest were registered to companies, including leasing firms.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 402 registrations and a 16.9% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (249) and BMW (201). Together the top three brands took 35.9% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, RENAULT grew fastest year on year (+36.0%) while KIA fell furthest (โˆ’61.6%). The best-selling model was the TOYOTA COROLLA with 115 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA RAV4 (92) and the TOYOTA YARIS (85).

Battery-electric cars took 7.3% of all registrations, compared with 5.5% in May 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 8.6%, other hybrids 34.2%, diesel 22.7% and petrol 16.6%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 32 battery-electric registrations, ahead of HYUNDAI (13). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL 3 with 19 registrations, ahead of the AUDI E-TRON (7). New cars averaged 118.5 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 10.7 years old when they were registered.

May 2025 was the 17th-highest of the 21 months on this page, which average 3 509 registrations a month; the peak was December 2024 with 7 050 and the low January 2025 with 1 037.
