Finland registered 11 532 passenger cars in May 2024: 7 782 new cars (67.5% of the total) and 3 750 used imports. That is up 21.1% on April 2024 and down 7.5% on May 2023. Year to date the market stands at 48 884 registrations, down 4.2% on the same period of last year.

TOYOTA led the brand ranking with 1 773 registrations and a 15.4% share, ahead of VOLVO (1 670) and VOLKSWAGEN (1 016). Together the top three brands took 38.7% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, HYUNDAI grew fastest year on year (+39.1%) while SKODA fell furthest (โˆ’43.2%). The best-selling model was the VOLVO EX30 with 528 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA YARIS (453) and the TOYOTA COROLLA (414).

Battery-electric cars took 28.6% of all registrations. Among new cars alone the electric share was 28.6%. Plug-in hybrids took 27.0%, diesel 6.5% and petrol 37.7%. The leading electric brand was VOLVO with 721 battery-electric registrations, ahead of TESLA (595). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLVO EX30 with 528 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (193). New cars averaged 73.2 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 6.1 years old when they were registered.

May 2024 was the strongest of the 9 months on this page, which average 9 902 registrations a month; the weakest was February 2024 with 8 446.
