Finland registered 9 640 passenger cars in April 2025: 6 251 new cars (64.8% of the total) and 3 389 used imports. That is down 2.6% on March 2025 and up 1.2% on April 2024. Year to date the market stands at 36 948 registrations, down 1.1% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 1 173 registrations and a 12.2% share, ahead of TOYOTA (1 069) and VOLVO (1 024). Together the top three brands took 33.9% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, POLESTAR grew fastest year on year (+138.5%) while BMW fell furthest (โˆ’34.4%). The best-selling model was the TOYOTA YARIS CROSS with 257 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA YARIS (200) and the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (191).

Battery-electric cars took 43.0% of all registrations, compared with 28.1% in April 2024. Among new cars alone the electric share was 36.8%. Plug-in hybrids took 20.7%, diesel 6.3% and petrol 29.8%. The leading electric brand was VOLKSWAGEN with 612 battery-electric registrations, ahead of SKODA (428). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 with 191 registrations, ahead of the VOLKSWAGEN ID.7 (177). New cars averaged 58.5 g/km of COโ‚‚ (WLTP). Used imports were on average 6.1 years old when they were registered.

April 2025 was the 12th-highest of the 20 months on this page, which average 9 724 registrations a month; the peak was May 2024 with 11 532 and the low February 2025 with 8 136.
