Switzerland registered 23 467 new passenger cars in March 2024. That is up 26.7% on February 2024 and down 6.8% on March 2023. Year to date the market stands at 57 224 registrations, down 2.7% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 355 registrations and a 10.0% share, ahead of BMW (2 062) and MERCEDES-BENZ (2 016). Together the top three brands took 27.4% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TESLA grew fastest year on year (+54.5%) while AUDI fell furthest (โˆ’26.8%). The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 508 registrations, followed by the SKODA OCTAVIA (609) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (501).

Battery-electric cars took 20.3% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 8.5%, other hybrids 31.0%, diesel 8.7% and petrol 31.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 1 933 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (379). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 1 507 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (286).

March 2024 was the 2nd-highest of the 7 months on this page, which average 21 159 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 26 948 and the low January 2024 with 15 236.
