Switzerland · July 2024

Switzerland registered 18 430 new passenger cars in July 2024. That is down 18.8% on June 2024 and down 0.9% on July 2023. Year to date the market stands at 139 648 registrations, down 1.9% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 001 registrations and a 10.9% share, ahead of MERCEDES-BENZ (1 623) and AUDI (1 555). Together the top three brands took 28.1% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, MERCEDES-BENZ grew fastest year on year (+26.9%) while SEAT / CUPRA fell furthest (−17.9%). The best-selling model was the AUDI Q3 with 383 registrations, followed by the MERCEDES-BENZ GLC (342) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (342).

Battery-electric cars took 18.6% of new registrations. Plug-in hybrids took 8.4%, other hybrids 34.3%, diesel 10.2% and petrol 28.5%. The leading electric brand was AUDI with 414 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (399). The best-selling battery-electric model was the VOLVO EX30 with 313 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL Y (279).

July 2024 was the 10th-highest of the 11 months on this page, which average 20 958 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 26 948 and the low January 2024 with 15 236.
