Switzerland registered 21 690 new passenger cars in March 2025. That is up 33.8% on February 2025 and down 7.6% on March 2024. Year to date the market stands at 52 690 registrations, down 7.9% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 076 registrations and a 9.6% share, ahead of BMW (1 846) and SKODA (1 811). Together the top three brands took 26.4% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, NISSAN grew fastest year on year (+66.8%) while TOYOTA fell furthest (โˆ’19.3%). The best-selling model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 534 registrations, followed by the MERCEDES-BENZ GLC (493) and the AUDI Q3 (437).

Battery-electric cars took 20.4% of new registrations, compared with 20.3% in March 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 9.6%, other hybrids 38.1%, diesel 7.4% and petrol 24.5%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 648 battery-electric registrations, ahead of AUDI (462). The best-selling battery-electric model was the TESLA MODEL Y with 531 registrations, ahead of the AUDI Q4 (244).

March 2025 was the 6th-highest of the 19 months on this page, which average 20 164 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 26 948 and the low January 2025 with 14 788.
