New passenger-car registrations in Switzerland

Switzerland registered 18 451 new passenger cars in October 2025. That is down 7.9% on September 2025 and down 1.6% on October 2024. Year to date the market stands at 187 378 registrations, down 3.7% on the same period of last year.

SKODA led the brand ranking with 2 057 registrations and a 11.2% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (2 042) and BMW (1 593). Together the top three brands took 30.9% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+15.2%) while TOYOTA fell furthest (−26.4%). The best-selling model was the SKODA ELROQ with 454 registrations, followed by the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (442) and the SKODA KODIAQ (395).

Battery-electric cars took 22.6% of new registrations, compared with 19.0% in October 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 12.8%, other hybrids 34.9%, diesel 6.4% and petrol 23.3%. The leading electric brand was SKODA with 710 battery-electric registrations, ahead of VOLVO (375). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ELROQ with 454 registrations, ahead of the SKODA ENYAQ (256).

October 2025 was the 20th-highest of the 26 months on this page, which average 19 915 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 26 948 and the low January 2025 with 14 788.
