Switzerland registered 18 618 new passenger cars in April 2026. That is down 20.0% on March 2026 and down 0.2% on April 2025. Year to date the market stands at 71 600 registrations, up 0.3% on the same period of last year.

SKODA led the brand ranking with 2 071 registrations and a 11.1% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (1 927) and MERCEDES-BENZ (1 584). Together the top three brands took 30.0% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, SKODA grew fastest year on year (+18.8%) while BMW fell furthest (−25.4%). The best-selling model was the SKODA ENYAQ with 421 registrations, followed by the SKODA KODIAQ (418) and the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (372).

Battery-electric cars took 25.2% of new registrations, compared with 18.6% in April 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 12.3%, other hybrids 35.5%, diesel 5.3% and petrol 21.7%. The leading electric brand was SKODA with 734 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (360). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ENYAQ with 421 registrations, ahead of the SKODA ELROQ (313).

April 2026 was the 22nd-highest of the 32 months on this page, which average 19 867 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 26 948 and the low January 2026 with 14 027.
