Switzerland registered 18 994 new passenger cars in July 2026. That is down 24.6% on June 2026 and down 3.2% on July 2025. Year to date the market stands at 135 542 registrations, up 2.1% on the same period of last year.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 2 195 registrations and a 11.6% share, ahead of SKODA (1 838) and MERCEDES-BENZ (1 643). Together the top three brands took 29.9% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TOYOTA grew fastest year on year (+23.1%) while DACIA fell furthest (−28.2%). The best-selling model was the MERCEDES-BENZ GLC with 467 registrations, followed by the TOYOTA YARIS CROSS (426) and the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF (367).

Battery-electric cars took 25.8% of new registrations, compared with 20.8% in July 2025. Plug-in hybrids took 13.7%, other hybrids 36.6%, diesel 6.0% and petrol 18.0%. The leading electric brand was SKODA with 550 battery-electric registrations, ahead of BMW (429). The best-selling battery-electric model was the SKODA ELROQ with 311 registrations, ahead of the SKODA ENYAQ (239).

July 2026 was the 22nd-highest of the 35 months on this page, which average 19 991 registrations a month; the peak was December 2023 with 26 948 and the low January 2026 with 14 027.
