New passenger-car registrations in Denmark

Denmark registered 13 079 new passenger cars in August 2025. That is down 5.9% on July 2025 and up 1.7% on August 2024. Year to date the market stands at 116 987 registrations, up 5.3% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 59.6% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets. Leasing accounted for 60.4% of the month's registrations, private leasing alone for 26.2%.

VOLKSWAGEN led the brand ranking with 1 836 registrations and a 14.1% share, ahead of SKODA (1 453) and MERCEDES-BENZ (1 117). Together the top three brands took 33.8% of the market. The best-selling model was the SKODA ELROQ with 672 registrations, followed by the VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 (566) and the SKODA ENYAQ IV (561).

Battery-electric cars took 68.7% of new registrations, compared with 54.7% in August 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 3.0%, diesel 6.8% and petrol 21.6%.

August 2025 was the 18th-highest of the 24 months on this page, which average 14 758 registrations a month; the peak was June 2024 with 19 578 and the low January 2024 with 8 861.
