Latvia registered 5 857 passenger cars in August 2025: 1 957 new cars (33.4% of the total) and 3 900 used imports. That is down 8.7% on July 2025 and up 15.0% on August 2024. Year to date the market stands at 43 268 registrations, up 12.0% on the same period of last year. Private buyers accounted for 62.9% of registrations, the rest going to companies, leasing and fleets.

BMW led the brand ranking with 752 registrations and a 12.8% share, ahead of VOLKSWAGEN (742) and AUDI (561). Together the top three brands took 35.1% of the market. Among the ten largest brands, TOYOTA grew fastest year on year (+65.0%) while VOLVO fell furthest (โˆ’18.8%). The best-selling model was the BMW 3 SERIES with 239 registrations, followed by the VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN (170) and the BMW 5 SERIES (159). The 3 SERIES arrived mainly as a used import: 239 used against 0 new.

Battery-electric cars took 9.9% of all registrations, compared with 5.1% in August 2024. Plug-in hybrids took 7.1%, diesel 44.7% and petrol 37.1%. The leading electric brand was TESLA with 103 battery-electric registrations, ahead of AUDI (66). The best-selling battery-electric model was the AUDI E-TRON with 52 registrations, ahead of the TESLA MODEL 3 (46). Used imports were on average 11.6 years old when they were registered.

August 2025 was the 2nd-highest of the 25 months on this page, which average 5 034 registrations a month; the peak was July 2025 with 6 412 and the low January 2024 with 3 738.
